little victories

my favorite things in life are the simple, little things that often go unnoticed. in an effort to recognize these little gems, mike marchetti and i always write 5 or more "little victories" at the end of each of our letters. why not do that on my blog too? here are a few of my "little victories" this week...

1. donated plasma and DIDN'T faint.
2. got awarded a small scholarship for fall semester
3. witnessed a double rainbow
4. purchased my flight home. yay!
5. my nephew lost his first tooth :)
6. letters from mike and jake.
7. sleeping 9 hours last night!!!!
8. having time to watch this week's bachelorette

i have a lovely little life.

mass photo post.

here is a taste of what little miss chelsey has been up to the last few weeks:

My roommate Sarah turned 20!

I donated plasma... and passed out.

Chloe and I went to Nature Park to feed the beautiful ducks.

My roommate and I played on the tractors/construction equipment behind my apartment, in the dark of night (hence the incredible quality and clarity of the picture).

I fell in love with a few of Rexburg's many horses :)

and lastly, I've been sick. I could really use my mother right now, but since that isn't possible... I've got my pillow pet, water, hand sani, HP dvds, and computer.

ps. happy father's day to the best dad in the world!

Sleepover!

my roommate chloe and i decided to kick it old school and have a sleepover in the living room. so we moved her mattress in there, were too lazy to move mine in there too, and decided just to make another mattress-like bed made from couch cushions.

that didn't work out so well... and we ended up on the same little twin mattress by the morning. my lovely roommate, sarah was able to sneak a quick picture of us this morning without us even noticing! (she showed this to me later). and apart from the fact that we are in pjs with no hair or make-up done, i love it. i love moments captured. chloe and i had a blast. it's fun to take a break from being busy, grown up, independent, and "mature" college students, and just be teenagers :)

"Don't ever make the mistake of believing something you desire is out of the realm of possibility."

just when i feel like things are going well in school, doubt creeps in. doubt is ugly and it's mean. doubt makes me feel so small and worthless. doubt makes me feel like i am not meant to be anything but ordinary. and i don't wish to be ordinary. i have dreams of being among the elect, the amazing, and the accomplished. i have dreams of being extraordinary.

these dreams cannot coexist with doubt. when i allow myself to become discouraged from a poor test grade, upset from my inability to grasp a difficult concept, or belittled by my own comparisons between other students and myself, i allow doubt to overtake me and i allow my dreams to become distant. this is going to stop, i've decided it. i have decided to smile because i am here, i am alive, and i am at a wonderful university where learning, dreaming, and accomplishing are encouraged.

i am allowing myself to believe that anything i desire is possible. after all, "i am the master of my fate: i am the captain of my soul." :)
